Objectives of the Course

This course covers cell culture techniques used in plant breeding, protoplast isolation in plants, and protoplast hybridizations. Additionally, it includes topics related to determining the ploidy levels of individuals obtained through cell culture in plant breeding.

Course Content

Cell culture in plants, media used in plant cell culture and their preparation, selection of suitable plant tissue, types of cultures and creation of cultures, protoplast culture, plant tissue selection, protoplast acquisition, methods used in protoplast isolation, protoplast purification, protoplast culture media, somatic hybridization methods, heterokaryon culture, micro callus culture, plant regeneration, flow cytometry
