Objectives of the Course

In this course; etiology and epidemiology of colorectal cancer, the role of the nurse in the prevention of colorectal cancer, intraoperative interventions in colorectal surgery, the healing process of wound care, stoma care, complications in people with stoma, difficulties of the stoma, the education of patients with stoma and their families

Course Content

Involves; colorectal etiology and epidemiology of cancer, the role of nurses in the prevention of colorectal cancer, diagnostic methods for colorectal cancer, eras protocols of colorectal surgery, stoma complications, stoma care, evidence based practice in stoma care, stoma problems experienced by patients, urostomy and nursing care, tracheostomy and nursing care, gastrostomy and nursing care, education of patients and families

Learning Outcomes
1.Be able to colorectal cancer diagnosis and treatment methods, and be able toknow the nurse's role in preventing colorectal cancer care principlesBe able to meet the patient care needs in accordance with the nursing process in perioperative settings
2.To meet the needs of patients with stoma in accordance with the nursing process
3.Be able to identify possible complications related to the individual and to take the necessary measures in stoma
4.Be able to know stoma patients on individuals and the difficulties and complications to make the training of caregivers
5.To have knowledge about colorectal surgery, to know wound care and stoma care and to apply stoma care in accordance with the principles
