Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to compare the historical process / importance of the short story from past to present and to examine various short stories selected from Turkish-German-British-French literature.

Examination of selected short stories in terms of period, author, subject, character.

1.To provide students with short, remarkable short stories from German, Turkish, French and English literature.
2.You will be shown how to make a critical analysis through the main elements of short stories such as character, environment, theme perspective language and style.
3.Each story will be read socially and historically and relate to the author's life and other literary works.
4.Learning about German Short Stories.
5.Comparison of Turkish Short Stories and German Short Stories.

Weekly Detailed Course Contents
Week 1 - Theoretical
General information about the Short Story, the purpose of the lesson and the way it works.
Week 2 - Theoretical
The pioneers of the short stories will be informed about legends, mythical tales, folktales, tales and jokes, and their similarities and differences will be compared.
Week 3 - Theoretical
The first examples of short stories will be given from the period of 1790 -1810.
Week 4 - Theoretical
Ömer Seyfettin and his works, which are examples of short stories from Turkish literature, will be evaluated.
Week 5 - Theoretical
Choosing a short story from English literature, author and work analysis will be done.
Week 6 - Theoretical
Choosing a short story from French literature, author and work analysis will be done.
Week 7 - Theoretical
Examining the short story "Das Zerbrochene Krug" by Heinrich von Kleist, a German short story writer.
