The aim of this course is to enable students to get acquainted with basic culture concepts and theories, and to understand the views and perspectives of theorists in the field of cultural studies and interculturality. For this purpose, cultural and literary interaction will be revealed by analyzing the main works, texts and sections from Turkish and Western literatures comparatively, especially during the periods of interaction.
Our daily life and social communication are shaped in line with our cultural habits and values. Culture is effective in every area of ??life, from our way of life to our way of communication, from our eating and consumption habits to our artistic activities. In the context of human ethics, there are cultural values, as well as cultural elements consisting of national and local specific motifs. As long as humanity exists, cultural interaction will continue to exist. In this context, cultural science theorists, Marx, Weber, Simmel, Nietzche, Dubois in the context of culture in classical social theory; Parsons in the context of Culture and Society; Lukacs, Grammar and Communicative Theory of Action in the context of culture as an ideology in the West; Goffman in the context of culture in symbolic interaction, phenomenology and ethnomethodology; Ritual, Mauss, Durkhei, Turner in Classification; Structuralism and Semiotic Culture: Foucault, Derrida and Three Synthesis Initiatives: Pierre Bourdieu. Intercultural interaction has created intertextuality in art through literary works, and has also revealed diversity and multiculturalism.
