Objectives of the Course

To be able to critically examine, develop and direct social relations and the norms that guide these relationships.

Course Content

This course focuses on the meaning of consumption relations in modern societies. In this framework, the basic perspectives and approaches on which consumption studies are based, consumption culture and consumption society discussions will be discussed, and the main fields and topics of consumption sociology will be introduced to the student.

1.Analyze the basic theoretical orientations of the sociology of consumption.
2.Evaluates academic studies in the field of consumption sociology.
3.Evaluates the relationship between the sociology of consumption and the field of communication.
4.Interpret the consumption relations in modern societies with different theoretical approaches.
5.Compares different approaches to the conceptualization of consumption and consumption society.
6.Understands the consumption-production relationship in the historical process.
7.Interprets the relationship between consumption practices and habits with the field of communication.
