Objectives of the Course

In this course, it is aimed to teach biodegradation and bioremediation processes that occur through microorganisms, to indicate the necessity of bioremediation, to teach the microorganisms used in bioremediation and their properties, to examine how the pollutants treated by bioremediation are removed from the environment, to give information about the latest developments in bioremediation applications.

Course Content

Definition and types of bioremediation, environmental pollutants and their toxicity, identification strategies of microbial communities in contaminated areas, bioremediation in different ecosystems, definition and types of biodegradation, role of microorganisms in bioremediation and enzymatic reactions, genomic and nanotechnological approaches in microbial biodegradation, in-situ and ex-situ bioremediation methods
