Objectives of the Course

In this course, it is aimed to give various information on the subject by examining the concepts of climate change, the causes of climate change, climate change and cities, the effects of climate change on cities, the effects of cities on climate change, the methods of reducing the effects of climate change on cities, the concepts of climate change policies, the contributions of landscape architecture to cities in climate change.

Course Content

The content of this course is regional and typological differences in climate change; climate change and urbanization; economic growth, energy use and greenhouse gas emissions; urban ecology in a changing climate; climate change risks faced by cities; effects of cities on climate change; making cities resistant to climate change; managing the threats of climate change to human health; the most common methods used by cities to combat climate change; city-level strategies and climate change mitigation action plans; climate adaptation through green infrastructure; the natural design of a plant community: a solution to climate change impacts in the urban landscape; cities and international climate change framework; financing of climate change solutions in cities; cities most at risk with climate change problems; coastal cities: sea level rise, storms and floods; contributions of landscape architecture profession to cities in the climate change process.
