Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to provide the student with the aim of establishing a completely independent, modern and modern Turkish State on the wreckage taken from the Ottoman Empire. It aims to gain a socio-economic perspective on the period by examining with its economic and social dimensions.

Course Content

Atatürk's state and statism and its effects on the Turkish economy. Orientation to the National Qualified Bourgeoisie, Reconstruction of the Open Economy and the Years of Depression (1923-1919), Open Expression of the Period of 1923-1929: State Support, Economic Policy: 1923 - 1929 Developments in Agriculture, Agriculture, Some Taxes and Education, Industry and Monopolies, Small Bourgeois Power and Capitalism, Conservative - State Industrialization: 1930-1939, Government's Measure Against Reassurance, The Problem of Bread, The Municipality Decided to Fight Against Bakers, The Second World War and the Turkish Economy (1940 - 1945), The Measures Taken in the Struggle Against Highlighting, The Lift of the Prohibition of Export and its Impacts on the Market, the Law on National Protection (18 January 1940), Assets Tax, II. Some Laws Taken During World War II. Socio-economic developments in the period 1946 ,1960, socio-economic status of the period 1960ond1970, military memorandum of March 12, 1971, Economics: Planning and import, Economic crisis in the late 1970s, Social change, squatters and guest workers, Trade unions and social security, 1980 to give information about the coup and its consequences, the period of Ozal Period, the socio-economic situation of the 1993–2000 period.

Learning Outcomes
1.Makes a general evaluation of the Ottoman Empire's introduction to the influence of imperialism.
2.Gains detailed information about the economic situation of the imperialist powers during World War I, which played a role in the Ottoman Empire losing its economic and financial independence and becoming a semi-colony.
3.Gains knowledge of the economic policies of the TBMM governments during the War of Independence (agriculture, industry, mining, transportation and especially the financing of the War of Independence).
4.Analyzes the studies carried out in the social field during the years of the National Struggle.
5.Have detailed information about the decisions of the Turkish Economic Congress convened in Izmir during the interruption of the Lausanne negotiations and the economic provisions of the Lausanne Peace Treaty
