The aim of the course is to teach the anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of lymphatic system and physiotherapy techniques used in the treatment of lymphedema.
The lymphatic system starts from the lymphatic capillaries and transfers the lymph fluid to the circulatory system through the lymph vessels, cisterna chyli, ductus thoracicus. The lymphatic system includes the lymphatic vascular network and the lymphatic organs. The lymphatic system plays an important role in maintaining fluid balance between tissues, in the immune defense system and in the spread of cancers.
