Objectives of the Course

1- to make students be able to analyse to recent history of Turket by using sociological approaches 2- to make students be able to explain the relationship between the transformations in recent history of Turkey and transformations in the world and the region 3- to provide students with a knowledge in order to make them be able to analyse the social, economical and cultural transformations in the recent history of Turkey 4- to help students analysing the effects of those social, economic and cultural transformations on the social structure of Turkey 5- to make students be able to discus the efeects of global factors on on dynamics in Turkey

Westernisation question and the modernisation in Turkey; the streams of thought in the 19th centruy Turkey and their effects on recent history; Indepence War, Secluar Republic, Modernisation and Conservatism; Political Transformation and search for democracy; Economic structure and western style development; Social transformation
