Objectives of the Course

Main objective of this course is to open up some main issues such as the relationship between theory and practice, the meaning of reality, conceptualization, conceptual abstraction, and multiple-realities into the discussion by using different sociological fieldwork experiences. All discussions and every experience sharing are based on different fieldwork practices of researchers at the department.

Discussions of Science, Reality, Conceptual Abstraction and Causality; Analysis, Scientific Deduction, Scientific Explanation Issues in Sociology; Theory-Practice Relationality versus Theory-Practice Dualism; Multiple Realities; Feminist Standpoint in Sociological Research Practice; Different Fieldwork Experiences

Learning Outcomes
1. To be able to understand the relationship between theory-practice in sociological questionings
2.To be able to understand the roles of conceptual abstraction, conceptualization and causation in the field
3.To be able to look and discuss sociological research practice from different perspectives and experiences
4.To be able to develop an awareness towards ethical issues in sociological research
5.To be able to meet up with different fieldwork experiences and also to understand the place of field in a sociological research
6.To be able to understand sociological field research by looking at it from multiple-realities
