Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to equip students with the knowledge and skills to scientifically analyze the physiological, biochemical, ethical, and legal aspects of prohibited substances used to enhance athletic performance. The course also aims to enable students to understand the effects of such substances on the human body, interpret anti-doping policies, develop awareness against unethical practices, and design safe, effective, and ethical performance support strategies for athletes.

Course Content

This course covers the classification of prohibited substances used for performance enhancement purposes in athletes, their mechanisms of action, and their short-term and long-term effects on the body. Pharmacological substances such as anabolic agents, hormones, stimulants, diuretics, as well as nutritional and other ergogenic aids are examined. In addition, national (TDMK) and international (WADA) rules applied in the fight against doping, ethical approaches, doping control processes, and educational methods are discussed. The aim is to provide students with the knowledge and skills to develop safe and ethical performance enhancement strategies.
