Objectives of the Course

To enable students of Accomadation,Travelling, and Catering to understand what they read and listen to and communicate in written and oral English at levels A2 and B1.

Course Content

1. To improve basic English communication skills of students who are training in Accomodation, Travelling and Catering fields of Tourism sector 2. To communicate face to face and on the telephone 3. To make and cancel reservations 4. To deal with complaints 5. To give information about the hotel / restaurant , and the departments 6. To teach vocabulary, terms and collocations in these areas to improve communication skills

Accommodation and hotel types. Hotel services and facilities.
Week 2 - Theoretical
Room and bed types. Room services and housekeeping
Week 3 - Theoretical
Front Desk and the staff. Welcoming guests. Giving information about the hotel facilities and room types. Accessing reservation information, check-in check-out operations. (Assignment)

Transport in Tourism. Methods of travelling and travel planning
Week 5 - Theoretical
Restaurant, Cafe and Bar Services.Booking a table on the telephone.Greeting and Welcoming the guests,Taking orders.

Menu. Giving information about Food items and Beverages (Quiz)
Week 7 - Theoretical
Dealing with problems,complaints and inconveniences.Offering assistance

Definition and Classification of Food.Giving information about the Menu Courses and giving suggestions and recommendations

Classification of beverages.Popular drinks and glassware used to serve beverages (Midterm Examination)

Giving information about local sightseeing,and places in the town.Asking for and giving directions using the questions How to go/ get to….?,Do you know where…..is?, How far is ….?

Transportation methods.Mass taransportation vehicles.Planning air travel and sea journey. Countries and nationalities.
