Objectives of the Course

This course aims to examine—on both theoretical and practical levels—the electrical and electronic principles that form the foundation of renewable energy technologies. Students learn about direct current (DC) circuits, fundamental laws and theorems, and the characteristics of passive circuit components. Additionally, they acquire the skills to perform basic electrical analyses and assemble simple electronic circuits using measurement instruments in a laboratory setting.

1.Define the basic concepts (current, voltage, resistance, power) in electricity and electronics.
2.Performs electrical calculations using Ohm's and Kirchhoff's laws in direct current (DC) circuits.
3.Classifies basic electronic circuit elements (resistors, capacitors, coils) according to their structure and function.
4.Performs current, voltage and resistance measurements using electrical measuring instruments (multimeter, oscilloscope, etc.).
5.Identifies potential basic faults in electrical and electronic circuits and develops solutions.
6.Evaluates sustainable system components by considering energy efficiency in electrical circuit designs.

Weekly Detailed Course Contents
Week 1 - Theoretical
Introduction to electricity and electronics, basic electrical quantities (current, voltage, resistance, electrical power) and unit systems.
Week 2 - Theoretical
The concept of direct current (DC), applications of Ohm's law, and calculations of electrical power and energy.
Week 3 - Theoretical
Introduction of electrical measuring instruments (multimeter), measurement techniques and basic occupational health and safety rules in the laboratory environment.
Week 4 - Theoretical
Series, parallel and mixed DC circuit structures, analysis of current/voltage divider circuits with equivalent resistance calculations.
Week 5 - Theoretical
Theoretical study of Kirchhoff's Current and Voltage laws and analytical solutions of multi-cavity circuits.
Week 6 - Theoretical
Basic circuit theorems; Applications of Thevenin, Norton and Superposition theorems on DC circuits.
Week 7 - Theoretical
Passive circuit elements I: Structure of capacitors, working principle, series/parallel connections and charge-discharge characteristics under DC.
Week 8 - Intermediate Exam
Mid-term exam evaluation
Week 9 - Theoretical
Passive circuit elements II: Structure of coils (inductors), electromagnetic principles and their behavior in DC circuits.
Week 10 - Theoretical
Advanced use of laboratory measuring instruments; Examination of basic electrical signals with oscilloscope, power supply and signal generator.
Week 11 - Theoretical
Fundamentals of semiconductor technology, P-type and N-type substances, and electrical structure of the P-N junction.
Week 12 - Theoretical
Operating characteristics of diodes, ideal and practical diode models and their usage logic in renewable energy panels (e.g. bypass diodes).

Definition, structure and types of JFET
Week 14 - Theoretical
Definition, structure and types of MOSFET
