Objectives of the Course

This course covers fundamental theoretical and practical processes ranging from photovoltaic cell technologies to the design and operation of utility-scale solar power plants. Students acquire academic and technical proficiency in analyzing solar radiation data, selecting appropriate panels and inverters, and integrating renewable energy models into the field. Furthermore, the course aims to address post-installation performance optimization and the execution of project documentation processes in accordance with scientific research standards.

Course Content

This course aims to enable students in the Electricity and Energy department to comprehend both theoretically and practically the processes ranging from photovoltaic cell technologies to the installation of solar power plants.

Learning Outcomes
1.Defines the operating principles of photovoltaic cells and semiconductor technologies that form the basis of electricity generation from solar energy.
2.Calculates the potential energy production capacity of the system to be installed by analyzing solar radiation, angle, and meteorological data.
3.Explains the technical architecture of grid-connected (On-Grid) and off-grid photovoltaic systems and the functional differences between them.
4.Selects photovoltaic panels, inverters, charge controllers, and battery groups to be used in the solar power plant projecting phase according to technical standards.
5.Executes the mechanical assembly of photovoltaic system components onto the supporting structure and their electrical connections in accordance with installation procedures.
6.Evaluates electrical risks that may arise during the installation and testing phases of solar energy facilities and takes necessary occupational health and safety precautions.
