Objectives of the Course

This course examines the role of geothermal energy resources in modern agricultural practices—specifically focusing on energy conversion systems and heat transfer mechanisms within greenhouse operations—from a technical perspective. Students acquire theoretical and practical knowledge regarding the transport of geothermal fluids to greenhouses, the design of heat exchangers, and the control of soil and climate parameters via digital automation systems. Furthermore, the course aims to develop professional competence in energy efficiency analysis within the context of sustainable agriculture and in routine maintenance operations at geothermal facilities.

Course Content

Geothermal energy, utility areas of geothermal energy, greenhouse, geothermal energy in greenhouse application.

Learning Outcomes
1.Explains the basic characteristics of geothermal energy and its advantages in the greenhouse sector from technical and economic dimensions.
2.Defines the operating principles and installation requirements of heating systems (pipelines, fan-coils, etc.) used in geothermal greenhouses.
3.Evaluates corrosion and scaling risks in system components by analyzing the physical and chemical properties of geothermal fluid.
4.Performs calculations for heat insulation and system optimization to increase energy efficiency in geothermal greenhouses.
5.Applies periodic preventive maintenance procedures for electrical and mechanical systems used in geothermal facilities.
