Objectives of the Course

The main purpose of the course is to train well-equipped technicians who can perform the mechanical and electrical assembly operations required in the process from the installation to the commissioning of geothermal facilities, diagnose field faults and develop maintenance strategies in accordance with renewable energy standards.

Course Content

This course examines the extraction of geothermal energy systems from underground resources to the surface, their integration into energy production processes, and the operational stages in field applications from a technical perspective. Students; Gains theoretical knowledge about the thermodynamic properties of geothermal fluids, wellhead equipment, heat exchangers and power conversion mechanisms in power plants.

1.Defines the geological formation, thermodynamic properties, and energy potential of geothermal energy sources.
2.Analyzes the structural properties, heat transfer principles, and placement of heat exchangers used in geothermal facilities.
3.Identifies corrosion, scaling, and erosion risks occurring in pipelines during geothermal fluid transmission and determines appropriate protective methods.
4.Diagnoses pump failures, flow interruptions, or system pressure changes encountered in field operations using technical equipment.
5.Ensures full compliance with occupational health and safety legislation while working in high temperature and pressure environments in geothermal power plants.
