Objectives of the Course

The objective of this course is to provide the fundamental knowledge necessary for students to analyze and utilize electronic circuits encountered in agricultural mechanization applications within their professional practice and work areas. It aims to equip students with the skills to operate electrical and electronic devices and equipment encountered in agricultural fields.

Course Content

Introduction to the course, orientation, the socio-economic importance of utilizing electrical energy in agriculture, the utilization of electrical energy, basic electrical circuits, and methods of electrical energy generation.

1.To be able to recognize different types of electric motors and select appropriate electric motors for specific application areas.
2.To be able to determine lamp types and installation characteristics suitable for electrical lighting applications in agricultural structures.
3.To be able to select electrical heating techniques suitable for electrical heating applications in agriculture and determine the installation values of soil heating systems
4.To comprehend electrical lighting applications in agriculture and indoor lighting applications in agricultural buildings.
5.To comprehend photoperiodic lighting applications and outdoor area lighting applications in agriculture.

Week 1 - Theoretical
Introduction to the course, explanation of topics, activities, evaluation methods, and course operations.
Week 2 - Theoretical
The importance of electrical energy, the scope of agricultural electrification, and its status in Türkiye. Criteria used in determining the level of agricultural electrification.
Week 3 - Theoretical
Methods used in the generation of electrical energy.
Week 4 - Theoretical
Supplying energy from the grid to agricultural settlement centers. Transformers used in agricultural electrification and determination of required transformer power. Conductors, poles, and insulators used in outdoor installations.
Week 5 - Theoretical
Electric motor types and their application areas in agriculture
Week 6 - Theoretical
Electric motor selection for agricultural electrification, reduction of reactive power in electric motor circuits, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electric motors.
