Objectives of the Course

The objective of this course is to teach students the fundamental concepts of statistics, methods of data collection and organization, probability theory, descriptive and inferential statistical techniques; and to provide them with the skills to analyze, interpret, and make scientific decisions using statistical methods in engineering and agricultural research.

Course Content

Fundamental concepts of statistics, data types, sampling methods, data organization and graphical representations, measures of central tendency and dispersion, probability theory, probability distributions, sampling distributions, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, correlation and regression analysis, chi-square analysis, analysis of variance (ANOVA), and basic data analysis applications using statistical software packages.

Learning Outcomes
1.Explains the fundamental concepts of statistics, data types, sampling methods, and descriptive statistical measures.
2.Organizes data using appropriate tables and graphs; calculates and interprets measures of central tendency and dispersion.
3.Solves basic statistical problems using probability theory, probability distributions, and sampling distributions.
4.Analyzes data and interprets the results scientifically using basic inferential statistical methods such as hypothesis testing, correlation, regression, and analysis of variance.
5.Performs data analysis using statistical software packages in engineering and agricultural research; evaluates the findings in accordance with scientific, ethical, and technical principles.
