Objectives of the Course

The course aims to provide students with the ability to prepare a CNC lathe machine for operation and to execute production processes.

Course Content

Features, parts, and working principles of CNC lathes; machine coordinate axes, motion and coordinate systems in CNC lathes. Control panel and monitor keys. Cutting tool types, tool holders, clamping elements, and tool setting (zeroing). Workpiece zeroing. G-codes (preparatory functions) and M-codes (miscellaneous functions). Tool compensation settings. Programming on CNC lathes. Simulation software. Canned cycles on CNC lathes. Subprograms and programming using subprograms on CNC lathes; alarm options and error codes used in programming; machine feed rate mode settings; measurement and inspection.

Name of Lecturer(s)
Learning Outcomes
1.Explains the fundamental structure, working principles, and application fields of CNC machinery.
2.Prepares turning and milling programs using coordinate systems, G-codes, and M-codes in CNC programming.
3.Plans CNC machining processes by determining tool selection, toolpaths, cutting parameters, and tool offsets.
4.Analyzes and simulates CNC programs generated via CAD/CAM software and optimizes production processes.
5.Develops appropriate solutions by considering quality control, occupational health and safety, production efficiency, and sustainable manufacturing principles in CNC production processes.
