Objectives of the Course

The objective of this course is to provide students with the competencies to generate toolpaths for CNC lathe machines based on two-dimensional and three-dimensional drawings using CAM software.

Course Content

Generating toolpaths for all turning operations used in the industry for CNC lathe machines using CAM software. Performing simulations of these processes. Generating G and M codes according to various control units for the operations, and executing production by utilizing these codes on a CNC lathe machine.

1.Explains the basic concepts of computer aided manufacturing systems, CAD/CAM integration, and their use in production processes.
2.Generates appropriate toolpaths according to the part model using CAM software and prepares CNC manufacturing programs.
3.Executes cutting parameters, tool selection, machining strategies, and production planning in CNC machining processes.
4.Analyzes computer aided manufacturing processes in a simulation environment, evaluates manufacturing errors, and performs process optimization.
5.Develops solution proposals for computer aided manufacturing systems by considering digital manufacturing, Industry 4.0, smart factories, and sustainable manufacturing approaches.
