Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to teach the fundamental principles of seed formation, development, quality characteristics, seed germination, and seedling production, and to enable students to evaluate seed and seedling production processes in terms of quality, productivity, and sustainable agriculture, relate these processes to modern production technologies, and acquire the fundamental knowledge required to apply seed and seedling technologies in plant production.

Course Content

This course covers seed formation, development, maturation, quality characteristics, dormancy, germination biology, and seed production and certification processes. It also includes the fundamental principles of seedling production, growing media, seedling production techniques, quality criteria, and the evaluation of modern seed and seedling technologies in terms of sustainable agricultural practices.

3.Explain the growing media, production techniques, and quality criteria used in seedling production.
4.Identify the major problems encountered in seed and seedling production and evaluate appropriate solution approaches.
5.Explain modern production technologies and the basic application areas of digital technologies used in seed and seedling production.
6.Apply the fundamental knowledge and skills related to seed and seedling technologies in accordance with the principles of sustainable crop production.
