This course covers the fundamental concepts of plant diseases, pests, and weeds affecting plant health within a holistic systems approach that also considers biotic and abiotic risk factors. The course examines plant protection strategies, principles of integrated plant protection, risk analysis, observation and monitoring methods, and the fundamental approaches used to assess plant health. In addition, it explores the application of sensor technologies, remote sensing systems, image processing techniques, mobile applications, decision support systems, and data-driven digital monitoring technologies in monitoring, evaluating, and managing plant health. By the end of the course, students are expected to develop the ability to analyze plant health risks within a systems framework, adopt sustainable plant protection principles, and integrate scientific evidence and digital technologies into decision-making processes.
This course examines the fundamental concepts of plant diseases, pests, and weeds affecting plant health, together with biotic and abiotic risk factors and their interactions within agricultural production systems through a systems approach. The course covers plant protection strategies, principles of integrated plant protection, observation and risk assessment processes, as well as the use of sensor technologies, remote sensing, image processing, mobile applications, decision support systems, and data-driven monitoring approaches for plant health management.
