Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to examine the effects of digitalization on individuals, society, and institutions; and to develop students' critical thinking and ethical decision-making skills by addressing ethical issues arising in digital media environments, such as privacy, surveillance, artificial intelligence, data security, disinformation, and digital citizenship.

Course Content

The course covers the following topics: the concept of digital society, network society, digital transformation, surveillance society, surveillance capitalism, digital citizenship, digital rights, protection of personal data, ethical theories, social media ethics, artificial intelligence ethics, disinformation, misinformation, hate speech, digital media literacy, and a sustainable digital future.
