Objectives of the Course

This course covers levelling, traverse calculation, control points and intersection methods, provides understanding of map projections and coordinate systems, and reinforces professional surveying skills through field applications.

Course Content

Height systems, geometric levelling measurement and calculation, use of level instrument, trigonometric and tachometric height measurement, traverse concept and establishment, open, closed and attached traverse calculation, national networks and control points, forward intersection, backward intersection and Collins method, map projections, coordinate systems, field applications.

Name of Lecturer(s)
Learning Outcomes
1.Explains height concept and height systems; performs geometric levelling measurements with a level instrument and calculates the results.
2.Performs attached and closed traverse measurements, calculates coordinates and analyses sources of error.
3.Applies forward and backward intersection methods; calculates point coordinates using the Collins method.
4.Performs levelling and traverse measurements in field applications and evaluates the collected data.
5.Defines map projections and coordinate systems; explains the function of national networks and triangulation points.
