Objectives of the Course

This course aims to enable students to comprehend the Turkish Modernization movements leading to the Republic of Turkey, the founding values of the Republic, the political developments of the Republican era, the constitutions and the conditions that led to the constitutions, the coups, and the political developments leading up to the change in the Presidential System of Government.

Learning Outcomes
1.The student understands the historical continuity of political life in Turkey.
2.The student will learn about the modernization efforts in Turkish politics.
3.The student will gain knowledge about the political culture in Turkey.
4.To be able to obtain sufficient information about important events and actors that have left their mark on Turkish political life.
5.Evaluates the changes, transformations and historical ruptures in Turkish political life.
6.Evaluates current problems in Turkish political life within the framework of historical continuity.
