To identify the causes, development processes, and impacts of climate change; to gain awareness of its sectoral effects; and to learn about the magnitude of the health burden associated with climate change, its relationship with environmental health, and the measures that should be implemented within the scope of environmental health services.
This course covers the definition of climate, the scope of climate change, its sectoral impacts, and its effects on human health. It examines strategies for building climate-resilient health systems and discusses the role of climate change within environmental health services. The course also addresses climate-sensitive diseases, climate change mitigation and adaptation policies and practices, and measures aimed at reducing the health impacts of climate change while enhancing adaptation. In addition, key concepts such as One Health, Planetary Health, Health for All, and Health in All Policies are explored. The course further focuses on preparedness and rapid response to climate change and the development and use of early warning systems for climate-related health impacts.
