The Medical Laboratory Techniques Program is an associate degree program that aims to train responsible technicians who closely follow scientific and technological developments, and are capable of performing both traditional and modern laboratory tests for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in compliance with universal standards and within a team setting.
History
Aydın Vocational School of Health Services was established in 1992 by a Council of Ministers decision pursuant to a protocol signed between the Council of Higher Education and the Ministry of Health. Medical Laboratory, Medical Documentation, and Secretarial Programs were offered at the school, and students from Health Vocational High Schools began to be accepted without an examination in the 2004-2005 academic year. Based on the Council of Higher Education's (YÖK) document dated April 27/ 2009 and numbered 1916, regarding the naming of Vocational School departments and programs, the relevant programs within the school were consolidated under the name of the Department of Medical Services and Techniques, and the department was established.
Mission
The mission is to train healthcare technicians who are needed in the health sector, adhere to professional ethical values, keep up with scientific and technological developments, and are capable of performing laboratory tests accurately, reliably, and in accordance with universal standards. These professionals will contribute to the efficient use of resources with consideration for national interests, while recognizing and promoting the values of Turkish society.
The program aims to provide students with a strong educational environment that combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills, thereby contributing to the protection and improvement of public health.
Vision
To be a reputable, innovative, and pioneering educational program at both national and international levels, enhancing the quality of laboratory services in the field of health, supporting continuous development, and training graduates who are highly sought-after professionals in their field.
Purpose
Medical Laboratory Technicians are trained to conduct necessary medical analyses related to the patient's condition in diagnostic and treatment laboratories within healthcare institutions. They are knowledgeable about the operation of methods and devices used in clinical and other research laboratories, and they are proficient in scientific methods and techniques.
Physical Infrastructure
The School building is temporarily operates on the ground floor of the Institutes building. Faculty of Science has temporarily allocated 2 laboratories to us. The lectures are held in Aydin Menderes Classrooms and in the Morphology Building of the Faculty of Medicine.
Technical Infrastructure
Within Aydın Vocational School of Health Services, there are 34 desktop computers, 2 laptop computers, 17 printers, 2 projectors, 1 barcode reader, 1 photocopy machine, 1 scanner, 25 microscopes.
