Objectives of the Course

Principles of application of general laboratory techniques, working safely in the laboratory, basic chemistry concepts, and chemical reactions, to be able to comprehend and interpret solution chemistry as well as to gain the ability to solve chemical problems..

Course Content

Basic laboratory knowledge, hazards in the laboratory, concepts in basic chemistry, properties of matter, atomic theory and structure of the atom, periodic table, molecules and ions, solution chemistry.

Learning Outcomes
1.Analyze and demonstrate understanding of properties chemical matter and their states
2.Be able to understand the basic principles of chemical reactions and solve chemistry problems of chemical reactions using mathematical tools.
3.Can prepare solutions in different concentration units
4.Knows general acid-base definitions, strong and weak acid-bases, and their properties.
5.Calculates the pH of acid and base solutions.
