Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to introduce students to the methods heavily utilized in Recombinant DNA Technology from a theoretical perspective.

General Information, Definition of Recombinant DNA and Genetic Engineering, General Application Areas, Molecular Biological Methods Used in Recombinant DNA Technology, Cloning and Expression of Genes, DNA Restriction Enzymes, Cloning and Expression Vectors Used in Gene Transfer, DNA Gel Electrophoresis, Hybridization Methods, Gene Transfer Methods, DNA Sequencing Analysis, Polymerase Chain Reaction, Genomic and cDNA Libraries and Their Applications, Gene Expression and Protein Analyses, Recombinant Protein Production in Microorganisms, Vaccine and Hormone Production, Effects of Recombinant DNA Technology and Genetic Engineering.

Learning Outcomes
1.At the end of this course, students learn the basic techniques of gene cloning and manipulation and their application to protein expression.
2.At the end of this course, students learn how recombinant DNA technology is used to modify prokaryotic cells in genetic engineering.
3.Students gain knowledge about the practical and biotechnological applications of recombinant DNA technology.
4.Knowing the historical process related to the discovery and use of DNA, RNA, and proteins
5.Learning the application areas of basic analysis techniques used in molecular biology in recombinant DNA technology.
