Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to enable Medical Laboratory Techniques students to master the basic English concepts and terminology they will encounter in the laboratory environment, to understand the English instructions used in medical testing and analysis processes, and to develop English language skills that can be used in professional communication.

Course Content

This course covers basic English terms and concepts used in the medical laboratory environment. Students learn the English equivalents of laboratory devices and equipment, and become familiar with common test names and international abbreviations. Practical exercises are conducted on reading and interpreting laboratory reports written in English. Safety warning labels, ethical statements, and procedural instructions in English are analyzed. Additionally, the course aims to develop students’ professional English proficiency through simple English dialogues between patient and technician, sample form-filling activities, and the evaluation of equipment manuals.
