Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to learn the basic knowledge related to animal health, the occurrence, transmission, and spread of diseases, and to recognize the types of infections and their course in nature.

Course Content

This course covers the fundamental knowledge related to herd health and animal welfare in livestock production. It begins with basic herd health principles, as well as management and care practices. Herd health and production in dairy cattle, along with the effects of nutrition on herd health, are discussed in detail. The course also addresses reproductive health and udder health in herds. Key points for identifying sick ruminants and general methods of disease prevention are taught. Finally, the general impacts of important diseases on herd health and their management are examined.
