Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to provide the necessary technical and practical knowledge to ensure smooth reproduction in animals, prevent reproductive-related production losses, and obtain healthy offspring.

Course Content

The summary content of this course covers the functions and anatomy of female and male genital systems, reproductive physiology and hormones, the estrus cycle and estrus detection, and breeding and artificial insemination equipment and techniques. It also includes collection, evaluation, dilution, and conservation of fresh and frozen semen, as well as preparation and insemination of semen in cows, sheep, mares, and pet animals. Pregnancy diagnosis and fetal development during pregnancy, infectious and non-infectious abortions, parturition and its control, care of the dam and neonate, beginning of lactation, the puerperium, postpartum rest, and time for next pregnancy are also included. Finally, biotechnological methods in animal reproduction are addressed.
