Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to provide fundamental knowledge about the structure and functions of genetic material, cells, and tissues.

Course Content

This course provides fundamental and comprehensive knowledge about the structure, characteristics, and functions of the cell. Within the scope of the course, the organization of the cell and its biological roles are examined, followed by the fundamental principles of inheritance within the framework of Mendelian genetics. In the later sections of the course, the processes of mitosis and meiosis are explained in detail, and their importance in growth, development, and reproduction is evaluated. In addition, the structure of genetic material is examined, with emphasis on the structure and synthesis of DNA and RNA, as well as genetic control mechanisms. Furthermore, genomic DNA replication and repair, the structure and functions of genes and chromosomes, and mutations and their biological consequences are discussed.
