The aim of this course is to teach the types of feed used in animal nutrition according to different animal species.
This course aims to teach the basic concepts of animal nutrition and the use of feed according to different animal species. It begins with the digestive characteristics of animals and feed evaluation systems. The properties of roughage and concentrate feeds, as well as energy and protein feeds, are explained. The feeding requirements and nutrient needs of calves, heifers, and cows according to their age and production stage are covered in detail. Additionally, information is provided on feed ingredients used for poultry and horses. In the later topics, students learn how to calculate daily rations for cattle, sheep, horses, chickens, pigs, cats, and dogs, as well as different ration calculation methods (Pearson square, equations, trial-and-error, matrix).
