To provide an understanding of the etiological factors and pathogenetic mechanisms underlying diseases; and to enable students to recognize and distinguish between the concepts of inflammation and neoplasia.
Within the scope of this course, pathological terms and the definitions of the concepts of disease, injury, and reaction are addressed; degenerations and metabolic disorders are examined in detail; inflammation and its types are explained; and circulatory disorders, shock, and the mechanisms of hemorrhage are evaluated. In addition, healing and repair processes, as well as genetic disorders and anomalies, are discussed in general terms.
