Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to provide students with knowledge and skills in parasitological terminology; the nomenclature of parasites and parasitic diseases; transmission routes of parasites; methods of prevention; parasite species in animals; their developmental stages, epidemiology, pathogenicity, diagnosis, and treatment approaches.

Course Content

This course covers parasitological terminology and the definitions of parasites and parasitic diseases. The general characteristics, biological features, and life cycles of parasites are examined. The host–parasite relationship is discussed in detail, and the types of parasitism are explained according to the nature of this relationship. Transmission routes and dissemination mechanisms of parasites are addressed, along with their effects and pathogenicity in the host. In the later stages of the course, parasitological diagnostic methods are taught theoretically and reinforced through practical applications.
