The aim of this course is to provide fundamental anatomical knowledge for professional practice by teaching the body structures and organ systems of animals in a comparative manner.
This course covers the fundamental concepts and systematic structure of veterinary anatomy. The animal kingdom is classified at the phylum level. An introduction to osteology is provided, examining the general structure, development, and species-specific differences of bones. Within the scope of arthrology, the structure, classification, and functions of joints are addressed. In the framework of myology, the structure, types, and functions of muscles are explained. The anatomical structures and functions of the digestive system (systema digestorium), respiratory system (systema respiratorium), urogenital system (systema urogenitalia), nervous system (systema nervosum), and endocrine system are described. The sensory system and the integument are examined, and the organism’s relationship with its environment is evaluated. The anatomy of domestic poultry (Aves) is discussed, with emphasis on the anatomical structures and system differences specific to birds. The course is supported by practical sessions in addition to theoretical knowledge, aiming to enable students to recognize the morphology of anatomical structures and understand the relationships between body systems.
