Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to teach students the fundamental principles and practices of animal husbandry, introduce animal production systems, and provide knowledge about sustainable livestock management methods. By the end of the course, students will be able to understand rearing techniques for various animal species, feeding methods, reproduction and health management, modern livestock practices, and basic production planning.

Course Content

In this course, the role and importance of animal husbandry in agricultural production are emphasized, and students are provided with knowledge on this subject. The process of domestication in livestock, as well as its definition and significance, is explained and made clear to the students. The zoological position of farm animals is examined, and an introduction to zootechnics is provided. Within the course, the concepts of species and breed in zootechnics, the definition and formation of species, as well as the definition, formation, and characteristics of breeds, are discussed and conveyed to the students. Information on morphological and physiological breed characteristics, as well as the classification of breeds, is presented. Additionally, fundamental knowledge regarding animal breeding and selection is imparted to the students.
