Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to enable students to learn the spelling, pronunciation, and meanings of the basic elements of medical communication terminology.

Course Content

This course covers the basic elements of medical terminology used in medical communication. Students learn medical terms related to the cardiovascular, respiratory, eye-ear-nose-throat, nervous, endocrine, digestive, musculoskeletal, and urogenital systems; as well as terms related to anesthesia, surgery, emergency and first aid, pharmacology, radiology, nuclear medicine, and public health and disease classification. Students develop the ability to understand the spelling, pronunciation, and meaning of terms and use them accurately and effectively in medical communication.

Learning Outcomes
1.Explains the basic principles of medical terminology.
2.Analyzes and traces medical terms based on prefix, suffix, and root structures; students acquire knowledge about prefixes, suffixes, and roots, the basic elements of medical terminology.
3.Explains and interprets the terms related to diagnosis and symptoms of diseases of various systems.
4.Explains how to read medical terms correctly.
5.Examines and explains individual terms of the body systems.
