Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to enable students to use information technologies effectively, to exist in a safe and ethical manner in the digital environment, and to increase their digital productivity by consciously using contemporary artificial intelligence tools. Starting from basic computer use, students are supported to gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills in topics such as digital literacy, data security, content production with artificial intelligence, and digital communication.

Course Content

In this course, students begin their education with topics such as computer hardware, operating systems, office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), internet browsers and cloud systems, which are the basic components of information technologies. Later, within the framework of digital literacy, online information access, digital citizenship, media literacy, social media usage, data privacy, cybersecurity and ethical digital behavior are covered. In the second half of the course, text, visual, presentation and data production are done with artificial intelligence-based applications (such as ChatGPT, DALL E, Copilot, Gemini, Canva AI); topics such as prompt engineering, content verification, artificial intelligence ethics are covered. In this way, students develop their individual and academic digital productivity and acquire the skills required by the digital age in a holistic manner.

Learning Outcomes
1.Defines basic information about computer hardware, software types, operating systems and office tools.
2.Organizes and presents text, tables and presentation files appropriately.
3.Performs effective searches in search engines, ensures e-mail security, and develops information verification skills.
4.Understands their rights and responsibilities in the digital environment; is sensitive to digital ethics, digital footprint and copyrights.
5.Provides conscious use of password security, phishing awareness, and data privacy.
6.Uses tools like ChatGPT, DALL E, Canva AI, Gemini, etc. for simple tasks and content creation.
7.Generates academic content, posters, presentations or reports with AI tools; applies correct prompt writing.
8.Discusses the advantages and limitations of generative AI; is conscious of its proper and ethical use
9.Prepares and presents an original digital product by integrating the technologies learned throughout the course.
