Objectives of the Course

The aim of the course is to provide the students with the knowledge of the pests and diseases of ornamental plants; to comprehend the symptoms and damage occurrence in/on the effected plants, comparison the common control methods for disease and pest management.

Course Content

Disease of Ornamental Plants ( Abiotic and Biotic Diseases) ?Fungal, Bacterial and Viral Disease of Cut Flower, Ornamental Pot Plants, Cover Plants and Turf grasses and Their Control Methods?Pests of Ornamental Plants according to Phenology (Identification of the Ornamental Plants, Pests, Their Hosts and Control Methods) ?List of the Pests According to the Hosted Ornamental Plants.

1.1. To be able to recognize diseases in ornamental plants and to express and distinguish their effects on plant production
2.To be able to recognize pests in ornamental plants and to express and distinguish their effects on plant production
3.To be able to comprehend and identify the ornamental disease symptoms and control methods according to the host plants
4.To be able to comprehend the occurrence cases according to the plant phenology and the plant parts damaged in/on plant, the damages and economical importance of ornamentals…
5.To be able to organize the report or suggestion on the decision related with solution of the problems in respect to the economically important ornamental plant s pests before or during production
