Objectives of the Course

To introduce the shapes and pruning systems to be given in ornamental plants, to be able to apply them, to recognize the effects of training and pruning systems on branching, flower bud formation, flower yield, leaf quality and plant growth in ornamental plants, and to apply the appropriate training and pruning methods for each ornamental plant group.

Course Content

Growth characteristics of ornamental plants, root, stem, branch, flower, leaf characteristics, definition and times of pruning, support system, purposes of pruning, tools and equipment used in pruning, pruning principles, techniques and physiological principles, pruning in outdoor ornamental plants, indoor ornamental pruning, topiary and bonsai art.

Learning Outcomes
1.It can prune road trees and trees in parks and gardens in accordance with its technique.
2.The plant learns the balance between the crown and the root system and performs pruning according to this balance.
3.Learns and can apply pruning time, shape and methods.
4.It can prune according to the wishes of each plant.
5.Knows how and when to use pruning tools and equipment.
