Objectives of the Course

The aims of this lesson can be defined as understanding of importance of medicinal and aromatic plants in the World and Turkey, revealing its role in the World and Turkey trade, introducing of this plants group, teaching the general cultivation techniques, introducing particular economic importance for Turkey and teaching culture of medicinal and aromatic plants.

Course Content

Historical development, importance, ecological requirements, general cultivation techniques, drying and storage process, effective materials and their variability of medicinal and aromatic plants are pointed out in general part of the course. Spreading areas of Apiaceae, Lamiaceae, Asteraceae families and other plant characteristic of botany, content of main components, the way of consumption.
