Objectives of the Course

To educate individual students having understood the basic principles of vegetable production based on a quality concept, the current status of vegetable production in Turkish and in the world economy, and being able to manage critical steps in vegetable production

Course Content

Problems of conventional agriculture, the basic principles of organic vegetable production, soil management and productivity, vegetables, organic methods, control of diseases and pests, weed control in organic vegetable production.

Introduction to vegetables and vegetable growing, the importance of vegetables in nutrition and health

The importance and current status of vegetable production in the Turkish and world economy, vegetable growing areas of Turkey

Classification according to flower and biology of fertilization, classification according to the cultures, classification by edible parts
Week 4 - Theoretical
Different uses of vegetables, Project on vegetable growing
Week 5 - Theoretical
Different vegetable growing types (field, commercial, family, organic)

Establishment of vegetable garden, garden limitation, preparation of the growing places, places to plant growing
