Objectives of the Course

To teach basic plant ecology terminology and concepts

Basic ecological concepts, spatial evolution, spatial concepts, concepts related to living communities, ecological relations, ecological factors and their roles in development, individual ecology, population ecology, community ecology, ecosystem characteristics, terrestrial, marine and freshwater ecosystems

Week 1 - Theoretical
Introduction to ecology: Ecological problems and its introduction to the social agenda, ecology science and its historical development, environmental science and its historical development
Week 2 - Theoretical
Spatial evolution, origin of life and evolution, natural selection and formation of species
Week 3 - Theoretical
Basic concepts and theories in ecology: Spatial concepts, concepts related to living communities, ecological relations, ecological factors and their roles in development
Week 4 - Theoretical
Ecosystem and its features: Concept of ecosystem, elements of ecosystem, functional features of ecosystem, substance cycle
Week 5 - Theoretical
Adaptation in environment and plants
Week 6 - Theoretical
Soil factor, soil texture, soil structure and relationship with plants
Week 7 - Theoretical
Classification of abiotic factors and their mechanisms of action on growth, development, reproduction and propagation of plants.

Light factor, light intensity and its effect on plants, growth and physiological effects, photoperiodism (Midterm exam)
