Objectives of the Course

This course is money , money, authority, monetary policy , using economic concepts and institutions related to monetary tool is to try to explain how the modern economy works.

Course Content

The conceptual framework of monetary theory . Financial system and currency . The definition of money and its functions. Money types. Money supply analysis. Monetary base and money supply. t.c.merkez Bank and the basic monetary indicators. Classical system ( the velocity of money , the quantity theory of money demand and the determination of interest rates ) . Keynesian system (determination of the demand for money and interest rates ) . IS- LM analysis. Money and inflation process. Monetary transmission mechanisms . Monetarist and post- Keynesian models . Objectives and Tools of monetary policy. Indicators of Monetary Policy . The problem of delays in monetary policy . Monetary Policy Types . Central Bank Strategies. Independence and credibility of the Central Bank ( the case of Turkey ) . Central Bank Balance Sheet Analysis. Monetary Policy in Turkey. Discussion: Theoretical Framework and the Case of Turkey Inflation Targeting
