There are various problems arising from traditional public administration understanding and practices. An example of such problems is the inability to identify strategic priorities in public decision-making, which leads to waste and extravagance in resource utilization. As a matter of fact, due to today's market-oriented public administration approach, the understanding of strategic management and planning in the public sector has started to gain more and more importance. With this course, it is aimed to develop students' strategic thinking capacity to create and maintain sustainable competitive advantage of organizations, to develop students' ability to make strategic analysis, to develop students' ability to manage the strategy formulation and implementation process, to develop students' awareness of the importance of ethical principles, personal and business values, socially responsible management practices.
Within the scope of this course, theoretical examinations will be made on the concepts of strategic management and planning, applications in the public and private sectors will be analyzed and it will be tried to determine how public managers should behave in the decision-making process.
