Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to put forward different approaches for the definition of political science; power, legitimacy, authority, to analyze the concepts of State and democracy; to implement the concrete political institutions and processes, concepts and theories

Course Content

The definition of political science, political science and positivism, other social science branches, power, legitimacy, participation in the political life of the State, democracy, sovereignty, political behavior, political parties, participation forms and red tape, pressure groups-public opinion, selection and selection techniques

Learning Outcomes
1.S/he knows about various definitions of political science and to s/he recognizes relations among these definitions.
2.S/he expresses the subjects that political science is related with, in the context of history of political thoughts.
3.) S/he considers political science including contemporary issues.
4.S/he analyzes the nature of power and state as an organization; its expression with the criteria in hand.
5.S/he comprehends the definition of democracy and to s/he recognizes distinguishing features of it.
6.S/he knows about actors of political life and s/he relates them with factors that effect participation, forms on participation an participation to political life
7. S/he defines historical development of bureaucracy and s/he evaluates factors in the background differentiation in terms of Turkey.
8.S/he comprehends controversial election techniques in election periods comparatively to display which elections technique is the most preferable in contemporary democratic world with examples.
