Objectives of the Course

This course aims to comprehensively cover the modes of transport (road, rail, sea, air, and pipeline)—which are fundamental elements of logistics activities—as well as their respective advantages and disadvantages, selection criteria, and multimodal transport. Students will gain proficiency in selecting the appropriate transport mode and in optimization within the context of logistics.

Course Content

This course examines transportation systems and models, which are integral components of supply chain and logistics management. Students learn about the technical, economic, and operational characteristics of various modes of transport (road, rail, maritime, air, and pipeline). Additionally, the course covers topics such as intermodal and multimodal transportation, selection criteria for transport modes, cost analysis, sustainability in logistics, and current trends (e.g., green logistics, digitalization). Supported by real-world industry examples, case studies, and practical route optimization exercises alongside theoretical knowledge, the course aims to equip students with practical decision-making skills for the logistics sector.
